Lyon is at the forefront of the pursuit for a January loan deal involving Real Madrid striker Endrick, according to sources. However, Lyon is not the only club interested in the young Brazil international.
At just 19, Endrick has yet to make an appearance in LaLiga this season, even after overcoming an injury that sidelined him since May.
As reported by ESPN a week ago, Endrick is open to a loan move and hopes to play in the Champions League. Nonetheless, sources indicate that he would also be willing to join a club like Lyon that competes in the Europa League.
Interest in securing Endrick on loan is also coming from clubs in Spain, Germany, and Italy.
Sources reveal that Lyon would guarantee a starting position for Endrick, and his transition would be facilitated by the fact that the club’s manager, Paulo Fonseca, speaks Portuguese.
To complete the loan, Lyon would need to pay a fee to Madrid and cover Endrick’s monthly salary of $400,000.
Endrick’s frustration was evident during his lack of involvement in Madrid’s LaLiga clash against Getafe on October 19. After warming up but not being called onto the pitch, he was visibly upset and kicked a water bottle in frustration, which sources described as “the last straw.”
Back in July, ESPN reported that Madrid was contemplating a loan for Endrick to prevent his development from stagnating due to limited first-team opportunities. However, he had been reluctant to leave the Bernabéu at that time.
Madrid acquired Endrick from Palmeiras in 2022 but had to wait until July 2024 to finalize the transfer when he turned 18, signing him to a six-year contract.
