Madrids Endrick Aims to…

Endrick is optimistic about getting playing time and achieving success in Europe after rejecting offers to return to South America.

The Brazilian forward recently joined Lyon on loan from Real Madrid, having made just three appearances for Los Blancos this season.

“Some Brazilian teams approached me about a return, but now is not the time to consider that,” the 19-year-old Endrick told ESPN Brasil.

“I aspire to play in the top leagues. I have to stay in Europe to achieve that.”

Endrick switched to Real Madrid from Palmeiras when he turned 18 in July 2024 and managed to make 22 league appearances in his inaugural season in Spain.

“My first year was incredible,” he reflected. “From my presentation to scoring goals in all competitions, it was a memorable experience.”

“Joining the world’s biggest club at just 18, with a team full of champions, was a surreal experience. I know my playing time will increase, but I need to take it step by step.”

Endrick mentioned that he took the guidance of Brazil’s coach Carlo Ancelotti and Real Madrid’s manager Xabi Alonso into account when deciding to leave Madrid during this transfer window.

“They emphasized how crucial it is for young players to get consistent playing time at a big club,” he explained. “It’s vital for our development after moving to Europe.”

Having dealt with a recurring hamstring injury earlier this season, Endrick now reports that he is fully fit and eager to secure regular playtime in hopes of making Brazil’s World Cup squad.

“I hope we can discuss the World Cup soon,” he said. “I will work hard for Lyon to win trophies, and if I perform well, I believe my chances of being called up will increase.”

Endrick had a stellar debut with Lyon, playing 72 minutes and scoring the decisive goal in a 2-1 victory against Lille during the Coupe de France.
