Manchester City have reached an agreement with Nottingham Forest to sign Elliot Anderson for £116m, a club-record fee.
The 23-year-old England midfielder will undergo a medical before finalizing his move to the Etihad. City maintain the price is £116m with no add-ons, while other sources say the package could rise to £130m, which would set a new British transfer record and surpass the £125m Liverpool paid Newcastle for Alexander Isak last summer.
Forest had pushed for a higher valuation and turned down two earlier bids from City. Personal terms are expected to be straightforward, and there was confidence a third offer would seal the deal.
Forest are targeting midfield reinforcements, with interest in Tottenham’s Lucas Bergvall and Inter Milan’s Davide Frattesi, and now plan to bring in two midfielders this summer.
Anderson is currently focused on England’s final World Cup Group L match against Panama on Saturday (22:00 BST). He told BBC Sport he is shutting out transfer talk to concentrate on performing for his country.
Anderson joined Forest from Newcastle in 2024 for £35m. He has made 88 appearances and scored four goals, helping Forest finish seventh in the Premier League in 2024-25 and 16th last season, when they also reached the Europa League semi-finals.
