Manchester City has set a price tag of over €70 million (£60m / $81m) for Rodri amidst interest from Barcelona and Real Madrid, according to sources from ESPN.
Barcelona’s opening offer of €45 million for the midfielder has been declined. While discussions with Barcelona continue, a deal remains far from completion, sources report.
ESPN sources indicate that Manchester City acknowledges Rodri’s wish to return to Spain but are unwilling to entertain a discounted offer.
Though club management hasn’t completely ruled out Rodri’s departure to prevent discontent, his recent injury history, age, and contract status are additional considerations.
Rodri, the 2024 Ballon d’Or winner, has one year remaining on his contract and could become a free agent next summer.
ESPN sources add that City intends to find a replacement for Rodri should he leave. A transfer for Lille’s Ayyoub Bouaddi is viewed as a separate matter, as he is a long-term target.

Additionally, there are uncertainties surrounding the futures of Tijjani Reijnders, who is attracting interest from Nottingham Forest, and Nico González.
Meanwhile, Manchester City is reportedly close to signing Marseille goalkeeper Gerónimo Rulli, who is expected to replace James Trafford after his move to Leeds.
