Kobbie Mainoo is set to make his first
Premier League start of the season, as
Manchester United‘s interim manager, Michael Carrick, includes him in the lineup for the crucial match against
Manchester City on Saturday.
Despite a promising start to his career at both United and
England, Mainoo has seen limited action under Ruben Amorim, with his only appearance as a starter being in a
Carabao Cup defeat back in September.
In a show of support, Mainoo’s half-brother was spotted wearing a T-shirt that read “Free Kobbie Mainoo” last month.

Following Amorim’s departure, Mainoo has earned his chance to shine in the midfield during the Manchester Derby—Carrick’s first match back as interim manager.
Additionally, Bryan Mbeumo is also making his return to the starting lineup after participating in the
Cameroon squad for the
Africa Cup of Nations.
