Man Utd complete WSL…

Manchester United have completed the signing of goalkeeper Janina Leitzig from Leicester City for an undisclosed fee, their second addition of the summer after defender Andrea Medina. The 27-year-old has agreed a three-year contract after United activated the release clause in her Leicester deal, which was renewed in 2025.

Leitzig spent three years at Leicester, initially arriving on a season-long loan from Bayern Munich before establishing herself as first choice. She leaves with nearly 70 appearances in all competitions, having been unable to prevent the club’s relegation from the Women’s Super League last season. United have tracked her for some time, with first contact reported in 2023 while she was on loan at Leicester. She will wear the number 25 shirt.

Calling it an honour to join Manchester United, Leitzig said she is eager to bring her top-level experience, join a strong group of goalkeepers, and help maintain the club’s high performance standards.

Later on Friday, Chelsea announced the signing of England youth international Nelly Las from Leicester on a four-year deal after meeting her release clause. The 18-year-old, who can play as a winger or full-back, spent the second half of last season on loan at Ipswich Town. A Leicester academy graduate, Las is bilingual in English and Slovak and has represented England at under-17, under-19 and under-20 levels. Since joining Leicester in 2024, she has made 23 appearances. She said signing for Chelsea fulfils a childhood dream after watching the club’s success growing up.

Leicester’s rebuild continued as they made Sarah Mayling’s loan from Aston Villa permanent. The 29-year-old full-back has signed a three-year deal after more than 100 appearances across two spells with Villa, including time in their academy. She becomes Leicester’s second signing of the summer, joining for an undisclosed fee after spending the latter half of last season on loan with the Foxes.
