Man Utds Carrick:…

Michael Carrick has reached out to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer since securing the Manchester United managerial position, stating that the former United manager is available for advice whenever needed.

The departure of Ruben Amorim following a tumultuous 14 months in charge prompted the Red Devils to quickly seek a new coach for the remainder of the season.

While Ruud van Nistelrooy was interviewed, Solskjaer—who famously contributed to the 1999 treble—and Carrick were always considered the leading candidates.

Carrick’s tenure began remarkably with a 2-0 derby victory against Manchester City, and he has since consulted the friendly Norwegian as focus shifts to the upcoming match against league leaders Arsenal.

“Yes, I spoke to him,” Carrick confirmed. “We’re close; we’ve shared so much, and he’s been incredibly supportive, as you’d expect from him.”

“He’s a remarkable man whom I respect greatly. He wished us well and was pleased with our result.”

When asked if he would seek Solskjaer’s insights, Carrick replied, “Friendships foster natural conversations. I have many friends I can reach out to if needed. Although I don’t often trouble people, he’s definitely one I can turn to.”

As United prepares to build on their flawless start under Carrick, a trip to Arsenal awaits, where they have experienced defeats in the last four Premier League encounters.

Mikel Arteta’s team recently had their lead reduced to four points following City’s 2-0 victory over Wolves, and they will provide a tough challenge for United in light of their recent derby success.

“Every match is unique,” Carrick noted. “There’s a certain element to that; it’s never exactly the same.”

“Even if you performed well in the first half, I prefer not to say ‘let’s do the same again’ because it never works out that way. We must evolve, incorporate new strategies, and be prepared to perform at our best. When we are, we believe we stand a good chance.”

As United heads to north London, they have confirmed that Casemiro will depart the club at the end of the season.

The anticipated exit of the 33-year-old aligns with United’s plans to strengthen their midfield in the upcoming summer transfer window, a challenge Carrick feels equipped to tackle.

“I’m in a great position to contribute,” the former midfielder expressed. “I’m dedicated to making decisions that will shape the club’s future, whatever that entails. As a midfielder, I naturally lean towards those discussions.”

“Now, being in my current role, I look forward to being involved in conversations that help guide the team and squad forward. It’s crucial we take the correct steps for our development and set the right foundations in place. I’m fully committed to being part of that process.”
