Manchester City have signed full-back Carlotta Wamser from Bayer Leverkusen on a four-year contract.
The 22-year-old Germany international, comfortable on either side of defence, moved to Leverkusen from Eintracht Frankfurt on a free transfer in July 2025.
Wamser is City’s third addition of the summer, following defender Niamh Charles from Chelsea and forward Beth Mead from Arsenal.
With Charles among several players currently sidelined—along with Grace Clinton, Vivianne Miedema, Jade Rose and Laura Wienroither—Wamser’s arrival strengthens the WSL champions ahead of Sunday’s home opener against Birmingham City.
Capped 14 times by Germany, Wamser progressed through the nation’s youth setup and was part of the squad that won the Under-17 European Championship in 2019.
She said she has received a warm welcome, already feels settled in Manchester, and is excited about what lies ahead.
Calling the English top flight the best league in the world and City one of the leading clubs, Wamser added that the move represents the ideal next step and a challenge that will help her develop.
City’s director of football, Therese Sjögran, said the club is thrilled to bring in a player they have admired for a while, highlighting Wamser’s energy, passion and eagerness to learn.
Sjögran added that the confidence shown by such a talented young player reflects the strength of the project City are building.
