In a dominant performance, Marseille’s Mason Greenwood netted a hat trick during a 9-0 victory over sixth-tier Bayeux in the Coupe de France.

The former Manchester United star elevated his season total to 19 goals, with seven of those coming in his last five matches, showcasing his scoring prowess in this one-sided affair.

Greenwood opened his account within a frenetic 13-minute stretch in the first half, which saw three goals scored and solidified their advance into the tournament’s last 16.

Captaining the side, he added his second goal just after the break as Marseille, currently third in Ligue 1, continued to dominate the encounter, before sealing his hat trick with the final kick of the match.

Greenwood’s former United teammate, Angel Gomes, initiated the goal-scoring in the 13th minute with a low shot that set the tone for the match. Just minutes later, Hamed Traoré doubled the lead before Greenwood scored his first with a left-footed shot from the right side of the box after a counter-attack.

Amine Gouiri extended the lead to four shortly after the half-hour mark, and Greenwood netted again from close range just after half-time. He then assisted Gouiri for his second goal, bringing the score to 6-0.

In addition, former England Under-21 international CJ Egan-Riley marked his first goal for the club, while ex-Premier League player Neal Maupay also found the net late in the match. Greenwood capped off the scoring with yet another close-range finish to complete his hat trick.
