Inter Miami’s head coach, Javier Mascherano, stated that the club will actively seek new signings throughout the MLS transfer window, which is open until March 26. He expressed satisfaction with the recent additions to the team’s roster.
“The transfer window is longer than usual, and we’re continually looking to enhance our squad with players who can contribute,” Mascherano remarked.
Already, Inter Miami has made significant signings in preparation for the 2026 MLS season, acquiring Dayne St. Clair, Sergio Reguilón, Facundo Mura, Micael dos Santos, David Ayala, and Germán Berterame.
“I am pleased with the signings we have made. It’s challenging when you’re a champion and lose key players, as we’ve experienced; replacing them isn’t easy,” Mascherano added.
“The club has shown remarkable agility and intelligence in seeking out players and capitalizing on opportunities, like acquiring Dayne St. Clair as a free agent and Facundo Mura, who would have cost significantly more under different circumstances. Their proactive approach has allowed us to find valuable solutions.”
Mascherano highlighted Berterame, pointing out the forward’s capabilities as essential for the upcoming 2026 campaign. Inter Miami will take part in the Concacaf Champions Cup and Leagues Cup in addition to the MLS regular season.
“Germán Berterame is an excellent signing,” Mascherano said. “He has a strong present and a bright future. At 27, he fits the profile we needed—someone who can make runs into space, play on the wing or through the middle, and link up well with teammates. He embodies the type of forward we were targeting.”
Although Berterame is currently unable to practice with Inter Miami until he receives his work permit, he will join the squad for their match against Barcelona SC in Ecuador on February 7.
“Germán will be part of the squad. Although he is unable to train with us at the moment, he’s staying in Miami training individually per the plan we’ve given him. He will travel to Ecuador since he can play outside the U.S., and we want to maximize every opportunity, even in this unusual situation of having a player officially on the team who cannot practice with the group yet. It’s important for him to spend time with his teammates to help facilitate his adaptation,” Mascherano stated.
Inter Miami will finalize their preseason with a friendly against Independiente del Valle, the champions of Ecuador’s LigaPro Serie A, on February 13, prior to kicking off the MLS season against LAFC.
