Mbappé Claims Golden…

Kylian Mbappé expressed his desire to remain at Real Madrid “for many years” and aims to secure more trophies for the club following his achievement of the European Golden Boot for the 2024-25 season.

During his inaugural season with Madrid, Mbappé scored 31 goals in LaLiga, earning the prestigious Golden Boot award, presented by European Sports Media, the first of his career.

“Winning the Golden Boot is a great pleasure for me,” said Mbappé during a ceremony at the Bernabéu, which was attended by coach Xabi Alonso, the Real Madrid squad, and president Florentino Pérez.

<p"This moment is significant for me—it's the first time I've won this award, and it holds great meaning as a forward,” he added.

The Golden Boot is awarded to the top scorer across Europe’s major leagues, with a points system that gives more weight to goals scored in highly competitive leagues.

With his 31 league goals, Mbappé garnered 62 points, surpassing Viktor Gyökeres, who scored 58.5 points for his performances at Sporting CP, and Liverpool‘s Mo Salah, who finished with 58 points.

Harry Kane claimed the award in the 2023-24 season, while Erling Haaland and Robert Lewandowski took the title in the two previous seasons.

Praising his teammates after a strong start to the 2025-26 season under coach Alonso—where Madrid has won 12 out of 13 matches—Mbappé stated, “We have an incredible group.”

“I hope we can win significant prizes this year. Winning as a team is what truly matters. I want to be here for many years and to continue collecting these accolades,” he added.

Real Madrid currently leads LaLiga by five points after their recent victory against arch-rivals Barcelona in the latest Clásico. They are set to host Valencia on Saturday.

“I hope we keep progressing as a team because, as I mentioned, the team is paramount,” Mbappé commented. “Winning these prizes wouldn’t be possible without my teammates. I’m grateful to the club, the doctors, and the staff who support me both on and off the pitch. I look forward to winning this award again next year; my start has been promising!”

President Pérez, who prioritized signing Mbappé for many years, expressed pride in the team’s ability to count on such a player. “You embody the values of this club,” he said. “Last season, you secured the UEFA Super Cup and the Intercontinental Cup. You achieved this Golden Boot with 31 league goals in 34 matches and 44 goals in total across competitions. You’ve already netted 16 goals this season.”

“You are leading the scoring charts in both the league and the Champions League, having the best start to a season of your career. This Golden Shoe is a monumental achievement; we’ve only had three here at Madrid: Hugo Sánchez, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Ronaldo Nazario.”
