Lionel Messi has unveiled the inaugural Messi Cup, an international youth soccer tournament set to take place in South Florida, featuring teams from Inter Miami and Barcelona.
Hosted by Messi’s production company 525 Rosario, the Under-16 tournament will occur from December 9-14.
The event will feature 18 matches with participation from eight clubs: Inter Miami, Barcelona, Manchester City, River Plate, Inter Milan, Newell’s Old Boys, Atlético Madrid, and Chelsea.
“I’m excited to share that this December, Miami will host an extraordinary youth football tournament featuring top clubs from across the globe,” Messi stated in a social media post.
“The tournament will showcase the future of the game, and we have an amazing lineup of activities planned beyond just matches. This is all about the next generation. I hope you enjoy it! This is the Messi Cup.”
According to 525 Rosario, the tournament aims to shape the future of soccer.

“More than just a tournament, this initiative merges live events with a digital platform that blends sport, culture, and innovation,” the company stated.
“The mission is to provide long-term value for athletes in their career development, for communities united by a love of sport, and for brands aiming for authentic connections in this new football era.”
The eight teams will be arranged into two groups of four, competing in a round-robin format during the first three days. Following this, playoff matches will determine the rankings, with third-place and final matches hosted at Chase Stadium.
“The Messi Cup represents a crossroads between current football and tomorrow’s stars,” said Tim Pastore, CEO of 525 Rosario.
“It’s a chance to celebrate talent, culture, and community while creating legacies and bonds that extend beyond the pitch.”
