Miami Renews Bright…

Inter Miami CF midfielder Yannick Bright has secured a three-year contract extension that will keep him with the team until the conclusion of the 2028 MLS season, along with an option for an additional year in 2029.

Bright joined Inter Miami as a first-round selection in the 2024 MLS SuperDraft and has since made 68 appearances for the club across all competitions.

He has emerged as a pivotal figure in the midfield, frequently teaming up with Sergio Busquets under both former head coach Gerardo Martino and current manager Javier Mascherano. Bright’s extension follows a similar move by Lionel Messi, who recently committed to a three-year deal through the 2028 MLS season.

During his college career at New Hampshire, Bright recorded two goals and eight assists. He also played for Arconatese in Italy before making his way to New Hampshire, where he made 20 appearances.

At just 24, Bright has participated in 27 MLS matches this season, starting in 16 of them.

Inter Miami’s lineup is expected to undergo significant adjustments in the upcoming winter transfer window, as Jordi Alba and Busquets are set to retire after the 2025 season. Their exit will open up two designated player slots for the team next season.

Messi will occupy one of the designated player spots until the end of the 2028 season, while Miami is likely to activate the option in midfielder Rodrigo De Paul‘s contract to give him a new designated player status.

However, one designated player slot remains available for co-owner Jorge Mas and Inter Miami to utilize.

The future of forward Luis Suárez is also uncertain as the offseason approaches. His contract ends at the conclusion of the 2025 season, but ESPN sources indicate that an offer has been extended to him for the upcoming season.

“He [Busquets] and Suárez have been invaluable to this team. The door is always open for them. By the fall, we’ll have to make decisions about the roster for 2026,” Mas told ESPN in June.

As of now, the team is focused on their upcoming match against Nashville SC in the second game of their Round One playoff series, which they currently lead 1-0.
