Monterrey Confirm Sergio…

Monterrey is currently in discussions to renew Sergio Ramos‘ contract, which is set to expire at the end of this year.

The experienced Spanish centre-back joined the Liga MX team in February and has made two goals in 15 league matches for the club.

Regarding the possibility of Ramos, who serves as team captain, extending his contract, Monterrey’s president José Antonio Noriega stated, “Yes, of course, there are discussions, that’s commonplace.”

“I don’t want to delve into specifics as it diverts our focus from what truly matters right now, which is how the team will perform against a tough opponent like América.”

Monterrey is gearing up for their quarterfinal first leg match in the Apertura against América on November 26.

Ramos, who will celebrate his 40th birthday on March 30, 2026, has previously stated his eagerness to remain with Monterrey.

“It’s true that my contract expires in December, but I hope we can continue because we feel very happy and comfortable here,” Ramos mentioned last month.

“Mexico is a country that has treated me wonderfully, and Rayados [Monterrey] is a club with an exciting project.”

A 2010 World Cup champion and two-time European titleholder with Spain, Ramos spent 16 years at Real Madrid, where he secured four Champions League titles and five La Liga championships before departing the club as a free agent in 2021.
