Mosquera: Gabriel, Saliba…

Mosquera: Gabriel, Saliba…

Cristhian Mosquera firmly believes that moving from his childhood club Valencia to Arsenal last summer was the right choice for his career.

Following his £13m move, Mosquera, now 21, has made 25 appearances for the top-tier side in the Premier League.

He recently made his senior debut for Spain during their 3-0 victory over Serbia on Friday.

“I spent almost my entire life at Valencia, so leaving what felt like home was tough, but I know it was the right decision,” Mosquera shared with Europa Press.

“I’m really enjoying life in London and I’ve adapted quicker than I anticipated. We all know the Premier League is physically challenging, and many have told me my playing style suits it well.

“I believe I proved myself when the opportunity presented itself.”

Mosquera expressed that he is learning greatly by training with top talents like Brazilian international Gabriel Magalhães and French player William Saliba.

“From the very start, both of them have supported me, offering advice and guidance like caring older siblings,” he commented. “I’m incredibly grateful to train alongside them; they are among the best center-backs in the world, and it’s a privilege to learn from them during every training session.”

Despite a recent loss to Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final earlier this month, Arsenal is looking ahead with optimism.

How Arsenal’s men’s and women’s teams can achieve Champions League history this season

Mikel Arteta’s squad holds a nine-point lead over City in the league standings, although City has a game in hand.

Arsenal is set to face Southampton in the FA Cup quarterfinals on April 4, followed by a Champions League quarterfinal clash against Sporting Lisbon.

“In recent seasons, Arsenal hasn’t quite met its goals, but I believe we are poised to succeed this year,” Mosquera stated. “We have a genuine chance to win titles and we will strive to bring joy to our supporters. We’re progressing well in the Champions League—now in the quarterfinals—and hopefully, we can continue this journey and claim victory.”

Mosquera aspires to be part of Spain’s squad for the 2026 World Cup.

“What I’m experiencing is incredible, and I must make the most of it,” he remarked. “Only God knows if I’ll be included in that squad, but every player representing their nation dreams of participating in the World Cup.”
