Erling Haaland became one of the standout stars of the 2026 World Cup, leading Norway and their passionate Viking-supporting fans on an unexpected journey to the quarterfinals.
His time in the United States was filled with excitement, as Haaland shared behind-the-scenes clips that sparked a frenzy among fans. Supporters donned Haaland wigs, created memes of his unique running style, and even held a lookalike contest in Miami.
However, that contest would have a different vibe now. Recently, Haaland posted a new viral video showcasing his dramatic change in hairstyle, swapping his long blonde mane for a buzz cut.
In a YouTube video, Haaland called several friends to reveal his new look. Oasis frontman Noel Gallagher laughed, while Zlatan Ibrahimovic expressed surprise; City teammate Jack Grealish was less impressed, saying, “You look about 10 years old!”
His last call was to former coach Pep Guardiola, who reacted with disbelief: “No way!” he exclaimed. “You’re lucky to have hair. I wish I could still have it.”
Since joining Manchester City in July 2022, Haaland has been the Premier League‘s top scorer in three of his four seasons, but this year marks his first campaign without Guardiola at the helm.
Guardiola resigned as City’s manager last summer, with former Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca taking over. The season got off to a rough start for Maresca, as they suffered a 3-0 loss to Arsenal in the Community Shield.
Things improved slightly during City’s Premier League opener on Sunday, where they rallied to secure a win against AFC Bournemouth with two late goals, although Haaland did not find the back of the net.
