Newcastle United, who play in WSL 2, have completed the signing of Scotland forward Martha Thomas from Tottenham Hotspur for an undisclosed fee.
The 30-year-old recorded 13 goals in 66 appearances across three seasons with Spurs.
She spent the latter half of last season on loan at Liverpool and previously represented Manchester United and West Ham in the Women’s Super League.
BBC Sport understands Thomas has agreed a two-year contract at Newcastle, with an option for an additional 12 months.
“I’m delighted to be here — it’s a huge club,” Thomas said, adding that she wants to test herself and compete for top teams.
She added that a strong team culture matters to her and believes she can help drive standards higher.
Newcastle finished sixth in WSL 2 last season after a six-game winless run to close the campaign.
Top scorer Emily Murphy has since moved to Brighton, while Newcastle have recruited nine new players this summer.
“Martha is a proven goalscorer in the WSL and at international level,” manager Tanya Oxtoby said.
“She’s a powerful forward who brings exceptional work-rate to the group, and she’s capable of scoring a variety of goals.”
