Newcastle United are in advanced negotiations to sign Republic of Ireland forward Leanne Kiernan from Liverpool.
The 27-year-old spent the latter half of last season on loan at Nottingham Forest but still has more than a year left on her Liverpool deal.
That means the second-tier club would likely need to pay a fee for Kiernan, who has been at Liverpool for five seasons and signed new terms in 2025.
She has scored 23 goals in 76 appearances for the Reds, playing a pivotal part in their 2022 WSL 2 title win as the team’s top scorer with 14.
Before moving to Liverpool, Kiernan made over 40 WSL appearances for West Ham after beginning her senior career with Shelbourne.
She has earned 38 caps for the Republic of Ireland since debuting in 2017.
Game time has been limited for her this season under Liverpool’s manager, with just one WSL start before joining Forest in January.
Liverpool have also strengthened their attack this summer with the signing of Germany forward Vivien Endemann from Wolfsburg.
Kiernan would add firepower to Newcastle, who have been active in the market with six signings as they gear up for a WSL 2 title push.
