Ngumoha Seeks More Game

Liverpool forward Rio Ngumoha is optimistic about increasing his minutes in the Premier League following a standout performance against Nottingham Forest over the weekend.

The young striker, who made history as Liverpool’s youngest-ever goalscorer with a decisive strike against Newcastle United earlier this season, came on as a substitute in the 77th minute at the City Ground and played a key role in Liverpool’s 1-0 win, which was sealed by a late goal from Alexis Mac Allister.

“I know that I need to make an impact, whether that’s with the ball or off it,” Ngumoha stated.

“It could be making a tackle, pressing to recover the ball, delivering crosses, taking shots on target, or simply beating my marker.”

“Every time I get the chance to play, I aim to show what I can do. I hope to get more playing time soon, continue to gain the manager’s trust, and earn additional minutes.”

This season, Ngumoha has logged 89 minutes in the Premier League, making him the player with the most playing time under 18 in the league. Given that Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo have struggled to find the net, there are increasing calls from fans for Ngumoha to receive more opportunities from head coach Arne Slot.

“I believe not playing enough can hinder progress, so I’m eager for more minutes—whether in under-18s or under-21s. I’m still young, and I’m ready to play in any game I can,” Ngumoha remarked.

“The manager plays a crucial role for me and is incredibly supportive. We often meet after training, where he provides feedback on my performance and encourages me with clips. All of this is immensely helpful.

“I feel my development is going well. I’m learning a lot daily from playing and training alongside some of the world’s best players. As a young player, I couldn’t ask for more. I just need to keep improving, work hard in training, and demonstrate my abilities to the manager.”
