Parkinson: Wrexham to push…

Manager Phil Parkinson emphasized Wrexham’s commitment to push their Championship playoff ambitions “to the end” following a solid victory over Stoke that helped them regain momentum.

After facing back-to-back defeats against Southampton and Birmingham, Wrexham comfortably triumphed 2-0 at Cae Ras, narrowing the gap to sixth-placed Hull—who drew 1-1 at home to Birmingham—to just two points.

Wrexham revitalize playoff hopes with 2-0 victory over Stoke

Wrexham will head to relegation-threatened Oxford on Tuesday, energized and ready before concluding the regular season with matches against promotional-bound Coventry and playoff hopefuls Middlesbrough at home.

Parkinson remarked, “Our objective has been to see this through to the end, and that’s what we’ve been discussing with the players. We need to avoid letting the playoff spot slip away to others.”

“But we must also focus on how we can achieve that by taking responsibility and ensuring our performance levels meet the standards necessary to secure victories at this level.”

Wrexham’s first goal came in the 31st minute from George Thomason, although Parkinson confirmed later that Josh Windass made the final touch on a corner that eluded Stoke goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu.

Windass notched his 14th league goal just 69 seconds later, capitalizing on a mistake by Aaron Cresswell.

Further good news for Wrexham followed the match as Birmingham’s Tomoki Iwata scored a late equalizer against Hull.

Parkinson added, “I honestly wasn’t aware of the score until I was leaving the tunnel and someone informed me it was still 1-1. That’s certainly a positive, and we won’t deny that.”

“Birmingham is a strong team, as we saw last week, and they must be frustrated not to be in the playoff hunt. However, they have helped us out today, and now we move on to Oxford, eager to keep this momentum going until the final match.”
