Phil Parkinson lamented his side’s lack of a clinical edge — and the lengthy added time — after a 98th-minute equaliser denied Wrexham a Welsh derby win over Cardiff City.
Wrexham looked set to open the new Championship season with a hard-fought victory after Kieffer Moore’s third-minute strike at Cardiff City Stadium.
They missed chances to extend the lead and struck the woodwork twice, carrying the greater threat throughout, only to be pegged back when Rubin Colwill blasted in a last-gasp free-kick.
Parkinson said his team had opportunities to put the game to bed but didn’t take them; the goalkeeper made saves, though none that were truly top class.
He added that Wrexham repeatedly caused Cardiff problems and, on reflection, the match should have been out of sight — but it wasn’t.
