Philippe Coutinho…

Philippe Coutinho, the former attacking midfielder for Liverpool and Barcelona, is contemplating a move to MLS or potentially retiring at the age of 33. Recent reports suggest he’s received interest from Russian club CSKA Moscow for his services, according to sources close to the player.

Coutinho recently terminated his contract with Brazilian team Vasco de Gama on February 19, citing fan pressure and mental fatigue. Despite the inquiry from CSKA Moscow, a source stated they would be surprised if Coutinho chose to play in Russia.

The midfielder is now weighing his options, which could include joining an MLS team in the United States or announcing his retirement.

Since February 2022, Russian national teams and clubs have been barred from participating in FIFA and UEFA competitions due to the invasion of Ukraine.

Coutinho’s contract with Vasco was set to run until mid-year, but his early departure has left him at a pivotal point in his career.

“I am very mentally exhausted. I’ve always been reserved, so sharing this is difficult, but I must be honest. My relationship with Vasco is one of love, and it always will be,” he expressed on social media, reflecting on his decision to end his contract.

Since returning to Vasco in 2024, the midfielder has made 81 appearances, netting 17 goals and providing seven assists.
