Police reported encountering “extreme hostility and violence” during a pitch invasion at Ibrox, affecting both Celtic staff and players.
Following clashes among fans after Celtic’s Scottish Cup quarterfinal victory, several arrests were made.
Hundreds of Rangers supporters, particularly from the Union Bears ultras section, charged toward the Broomloan Stand after some of the 7,500 visiting fans stormed the pitch to celebrate.
A flare was thrown toward the Broomloan Stand and continued to be tossed around as police and stewards formed a barrier between the rival fans.
Police officers detained a fan after Celtic players, including Tomas Cvancara, rushed to address an incident involving a member of their staff.
Cvancara, who scored the decisive penalty in the shootout, was later seen on Premier Sports with blood on his jersey.
Video footage revealed Celtic right-back Julián Araujo being shoved by a Rangers supporter before he managed to flee toward the tunnel.
Police Scotland Chief Superintendent Kate Stephen condemned the events as “shameful.”

She further stated, “Several arrests have already been made, and Police Scotland will collaborate with both clubs and the Scottish Football Association to conduct a thorough investigation into the pitch incidents following the match.”
“Officers and stewards experienced prolonged extreme hostility and violence, with many individuals wielding objects clearly intended to inflict harm.”
“Both officers and members of the public sustained injuries during this despicable display, and I want to extend my gratitude to all officers and staff deployed.”
The investigation will also examine the actions of fans who entered the Broomloan End without tickets prior to the game.
