Luis Enrique believes that Paris Saint-Germain can end Bayern Munich’s impressive 15-game winning streak in their upcoming Champions League clash on Tuesday.
The German champions arrive in the French capital as the last team PSG defeated in a competitive match, with the Parisians having triumphed 2-0 during a Club World Cup quarterfinal in Atlanta last July.
<p.Enrique remarked at the press conference: "Their results during this 15-game run are remarkable. Winning three or four matches in a row is tough, but winning 15 is truly astonishing. They have earned it."
“However, tomorrow’s game will be at Parc des Princes, where our fans create an incredible atmosphere in every match. We are confident we can elevate our performance to confront their pressure.”
“I anticipate it will be similar to our encounter in the summer.”
As the holders, PSG and Bayern, who defeated them in the 2020 final, are both at the top of the table heading into this fourth matchday, with PSG leading on goal difference. However, Bayern has won the last four Champions League encounters against them without conceding a goal.
When asked if the winner could be considered the best team in Europe, PSG midfielder Vitinha replied, “We will find out the answer tomorrow. It’s best to let our performance on the pitch do the talking.”
Bayern’s chances may depend heavily on how much England captain Harry Kane can add to his already impressive tally of 24 goals this season.
Vitinha acknowledged, “Harry Kane is an incredible player, one of the best in the world. His statistics over the years are remarkable, and he has started this season brilliantly with impressive figures that are tough to replicate. But we also know that Bayern Munich is a formidable team with many talented players, including Harry Kane.”
Veteran Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer also acknowledged the danger PSG poses to their quest for victory.
The 39-year-old stated: “We fear no one; we enjoy playing against PSG. They’re a strong team with excellent individual players and a capable coaching staff. They deserve to be champions of the Champions League.”
“Their counter-attacking is perilous, as are their long-range shots. PSG possesses significant quality. We must defend well and capitalize on any opportunities to exploit PSG’s vulnerabilities.”
