PSV Secures Record Third…

AMSTERDAM — PSV Eindhoven has been crowned the Eredivisie champion for the third consecutive year and the 27th time in total after their nearest competitor, Feyenoord, failed to secure a win on Sunday.

With just five matches remaining in the season, PSV boasts an insurmountable 17-point advantage at the top of the Dutch league.

The team triumphed with a 4-3 victory over Utrecht on Saturday, sealing their title after second-place Feyenoord was held to a 0-0 draw by Volendam on Sunday.

This weekend’s results made PSV the earliest team to secure the Eredivisie title by calendar date, surpassing their own previous record set on April 8, 1978. Furthermore, this title marks the fastest Eredivisie win in terms of matches played since Feyenoord’s victory in 1998-99.

This latest championship is PSV’s 24th since the Eredivisie’s formation in 1956-57 and their 12th in the 21st century, outpacing any other club during this period. Ajax holds the second position on that list with nine Eredivisie titles.
