Pulisic Makes Comeback,…

The current Serie A leaders, AC Milan, were eliminated from the Coppa Italia after a narrow 1-0 defeat against Lazio at Stadio Olimpico on Thursday.

Hosts Lazio, managed by Maurizio Sarri, avenged their previous 1-0 league setback to Milan with a header from captain Mattia Zaccagni in the 80th minute.

Christian Pulisic returned from a muscular injury and came off the bench for Milan after the team went down, but he was unable to change the outcome, with his late attempt being saved.

Bologna, who defeated Milan in last year’s final, advanced to the quarterfinals as well, securing a 2-1 victory over Parma. Bologna and Lazio will now face each other in the next round.

The only goal of the match was contested, as it came from a corner that appeared questionable. Milan defender Pervis Estupiñán cleared a free kick, but the ball seemed to deflect off Lazio’s Alessio Romagnoli, leading the referee to award a corner that culminated in Zaccagni’s decisive goal.

Meanwhile, Bologna’s match was tense, with the team trailing until the final minutes. Substitute Santiago Castro scored the winner with a header in the 89th minute, assisted by Emil Holm.

Parma took an unexpected lead early on in the 13th minute, with Adrian Benedyczak converting a through ball from Mathias Løvik to slot the ball past Federico Ravaglia.

Bologna managed to equalize shortly before halftime, with Jonathan Rowe scoring on the rebound after his initial shot struck the post—marking his first goal since joining the team in August.

Additionally, Bologna welcomed back Ciro Immobile, who made his long-awaited return from a thigh injury as a late substitute.
