MILAN — United States forward Christian Pulisic is expected to recover from a lower back injury in time for AC Milan’s crucial upcoming Serie A match this weekend.
Pulisic was absent from AC Milan’s match against Atalanta on Sunday, marking another setback for the American player, who is currently facing the longest goal drought of his career.

Fortunately, Pulisic returned to training with the AC Milan team on Wednesday and is anticipated to be available for selection by coach Massimiliano Allegri for Sunday’s match against Genoa. Milan’s final match of the season will be at home versus Cagliari the following week.
Pulisic has not found the back of the net in his last 17 league appearances since December 28, and he has also gone scoreless in eight games for the US team.
Milan suffered a 3-2 defeat at home to Atalanta on Sunday, putting them at risk of missing out on a spot in the next season’s Champions League.
The Rossoneri currently hold the fourth position, the last Champions League qualifying spot, tied on points with fifth-placed Roma and just two points ahead of Como.
The US team is set to face Senegal on May 31 and Germany on June 6 before kicking off their World Cup campaign against Paraguay on June 12 in Inglewood, California.
The Americans will also take on Australia a week later in Seattle, and they will conclude the group stage on June 25 at SoFi Stadium against Türkiye.
