On Sunday, the Qatar Football Association announced the postponement of all tournaments and matches until further notice in response to rising global tensions following the U.S.-Israel strikes on Iran.
While the QFA did not explicitly reference the strikes in their announcement on X, they noted that “new dates for the resumption of competitions will be provided in due time.”
Disruptions have occurred at Doha’s airport as the strikes impacted flights throughout the Middle East and beyond. Israel, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar all closed their airspace on Saturday.
Iranian missiles were reported as being intercepted over Doha late Saturday night into Sunday morning.
It remains unclear whether the upcoming Argentina and Spain Finalissima match will still take place at Lusail Stadium in Doha.
