Raphinha’s crucial goal in the 73rd minute came about somewhat unexpectedly as he lost his footing while taking a shot, resulting in a deflection off Madrid defender Raúl Asencio, leaving goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois stranded.
The first half featured a thrilling conclusion, with three goals scored in stoppage time—two from Real Madrid and one from Barcelona. Notably, Barcelona also faced Madrid in the 2025 Spanish Super Cup final.
Kylian Mbappé, who had missed the semifinals due to a knee injury, came on in the 76th minute but was unable to help Madrid find an equalizer.
Barcelona’s Robert Lewandowski also contributed a goal, while Madrid’s attempts were netted by Vinícius Júnior and Gonzalo García.
In the closing moments of the game, Barcelona’s midfielder Frenkie de Jong was shown a red card during second-half stoppage time.
