Real Madrid issued an apology after mistakenly featuring the wrong player in a video tribute to Diogo Jota and his brother, André Silva, who tragically lost their lives in a car accident in Spain this past July.
During Madrid’s general assembly on Sunday, the club mistakenly displayed a photo of Elche player André da Silva instead of Silva.
“There was an error in the institutional video,” stated Madrid president Florentino Pérez. “We sincerely apologize, it was a human mistake.”
Later that day, Madrid faced off against Elche in the Spanish league, ending the match in a 2-2 draw thanks to a late equalizer from Jude Bellingham. This result allowed them to maintain their position at the top of LaLiga, one point ahead of Barcelona.
