UD Almeria moved closer to promotion to LaLiga with a 3-0 victory over Cultural Leonesa on Monday, much to the delight of part-owner Cristiano Ronaldo.
This win marks Almeria’s fifth in six league matches, propelling the team to second place in Spain‘s second division, a spot that would ensure automatic promotion by season’s end.
Ronaldo, who recently acquired a 25% ownership in UD Almeria earlier this month, was quick to celebrate the victory with the team.
The 41-year-old expressed his excitement on Instagram, stating: “Great win today. We continue.”
Currently in Madrid for recovery from a hamstring injury, the Al Nassr captain is focused on healing.
It has been since November that Almeria held an automatic promotion position in the standings.

“This is where we all want to be, but the crucial thing is to maintain that position until matchday 42,” stated Almeria’s coach, Juan Francesc Ferrer ‘Rubi’, after the game.
“We must stay grounded as there are still 39 points to compete for. The squad is prepared; we’ve integrated young talents along with seasoned players who are as enthusiastic as ever. For some, this may represent their first significant achievement in their sporting careers.”
Having been relegated to the second division in April 2024, Almeria was acquired by a Saudi investment group in May 2025. They currently find themselves four points behind leaders Racing Santander after 29 matches.
