Rosenior Dismisses…

Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior dismissed “unrealistic” rumors regarding Cole Palmer‘s desire to transfer to Manchester United.

Reports have suggested that the 23-year-old is feeling unsettled at Stamford Bridge and is open to a move to the club he once supported, as he endures a challenging period in London.

Palmer’s performance has declined this season, with just four Premier League goals and visible frustration in his demeanor on the pitch, contrasting with earlier performances when he appeared to be a key driving force for the team.

Injuries have significantly impacted his season, with Chelsea being cautious about the minutes played by key squad members during recovery.

“There’s no basis for reassurance,” Rosenior said. “This is entirely unrealistic. It has appeared out of nowhere. There’s nothing to discuss. That’s my position.

“Cole is very happy here. I’ve talked to him many times. Our focus is on improving the team and how I can support his development.

“He loves being at Chelsea and wants to stay. While speculation is unavoidable, some of it is far from reality. There’s no need for further discussion.”

Palmer traveled with the team to Italy for their crucial Champions League match against Napoli on Wednesday, following his absence from the squad during Sunday’s 3-1 win against Crystal Palace.

Since taking charge, Rosenior has won four out of five matches, responding effectively to those who doubted his suitability to replace Enzo Maresca.

Despite the positive results, he has faced repeated inquiries regarding the future of certain players, primarily Palmer, as experienced during their visit to Naples.

“I’m not surprised by the timing,” Rosenior explained. “When a new manager arrives, it’s common for players to feel unsettled, but that’s not the case here. Cole’s with us, very happy, and I look forward to seeing him back on the field.”

There are indications that Raheem Sterling’s time at Chelsea may come to an end by Monday’s transfer deadline, as the club appears ready to facilitate his departure after more than a year and a half without play.

“Raheem is someone I hold in high regard, both as a player and as a person,” Rosenior stated. “However, this isn’t the right moment to address his situation.”

Chelsea needs a victory to nearly ensure they bypass February’s playoff round and advance directly to the round of 16, but they must first overcome their former manager, Antonio Conte.

“This is a formidable team,” said Rosenior. “Recent results may not reflect the quality of Antonio’s side. We recognize that it will be a challenging match, and the atmosphere will be exceptional. However, my game plan remains unchanged as I have been preparing for a tough encounter.”
