Ruben Amorim Appointed AC…

Ruben Amorim has been named the new head coach of AC Milan, following his dismissal from Manchester United in January.

The Portuguese manager is set to join the ranks of Serie A in Italy, taking over from Massimiliano Allegri, after Milan’s fifth-place finish last season.

“Coaching AC Milan has always been one of my lifelong ambitions,” Amorim expressed in a club statement. “I understand the significance of this club: its history, prestige, and the incredible support of fans worldwide. It’s a challenge I welcome with pride and excitement, fully aware of what these colors represent.”

“I’m eager to get started and to experience the passion that fuels AC Milan every day.”

Milan’s decision to hire the 41-year-old Amorim comes after ending Allegri’s contract at the conclusion of the 2025-26 season, which saw them miss out on Champions League qualification.

Amorim’s managerial career began in Portugal, where he coached Casa Pia, Braga, and Sporting CP before his tenure at Manchester United.

His 14-month stint at Old Trafford ended during the previous season, leading to Michael Carrick taking over as interim manager and eventually filling the role permanently.

According to sources, Manchester United may reduce the compensation payment owed to Amorim following his hiring at Milan.

Club financial statements from February indicated a “provision of £15.9m” for Amorim and his coaching staff, but sources suggest this might decrease due to his new appointment.

AC Milan will face Manchester United in a preseason friendly on August 15 in Poland.
