Mohamed Salah is set to potentially make his return to Liverpool in the Champions League match against Marseille on Wednesday.
The Egyptian forward has been named in Arne Slot’s squad after rejoining his teammates for training on Tuesday following his participation in the Africa Cup of Nations.
However, France center-back Ibrahima Konaté is absent from the squad due to personal reasons and is reportedly back in his home country.
Salah left for international duty last month amid speculation about his future at Anfield following a disagreement with head coach Slot.
After being omitted from the lineup for three consecutive matches, Salah made headlines with a candid interview following a chaotic draw with Leeds, where he accused the club of “throwing him under the bus” as results worsened.
He also expressed that he had no relationship with Slot and questioned his future with the club, statements that led to his exclusion from the squad for the match against Inter Milan in the Champions League.
Upon returning, Salah featured as an early first-half substitute in a home match against Brighton but left for international duty in Morocco with uncertainties hanging over his future.
Nevertheless, he appeared in good spirits during a training session open to media ahead of Liverpool’s upcoming league fixture in France.

Close friend Dominik Szoboszlai kept in contact with Salah during his absence but did not disclose details about the forward’s mindset.
“We talk about a lot of things, but that’s private between us,” the midfielder remarked. “He’ll return, and we’ll just carry on from there.
It’s ultimately the decision of the manager and the club; it’s about him, not us.”
