Despite his wish to move on, Savinho has been named in City’s initial 28-player group for their pre-season tour of Asia.
The youthful travelling party also features senior players who exited the World Cup early or did not feature, including Phil Foden and Gianluigi Donnarumma.
A notable omission is Jack Grealish, whose loan at Everton last season was cut short in January after a foot stress fracture.
The 30-year-old has yet to return to full team training, but recently posted on social media that he hopes to be back for good soon.
On Tuesday, Grealish shared a video of himself training in Majorca.
New City boss Enzo Maresca worked with Grealish while serving as Pep Guardiola’s assistant during the 2022-23 treble-winning campaign.
“I’ve got a good relationship with him and we’ve stayed in touch since I left. He’s got a big heart and is a great guy, but we’ll see,” Maresca told reporters last week.
England goalkeeper James Trafford is not in the squad as he closes in on a permanent move to Leeds United.
Players who reached the latter stages of the World Cup have not travelled, including Rodri, who will undergo a short spell of rehabilitation after back surgery on Monday.
Maresca’s side face Inter Milan in Hong Kong on Saturday, 1 August (12:30 BST), then head to Seoul to meet the K League All Stars on Wednesday, 5 August, before playing Atletico Madrid on Sunday, 9 August (both 12:00 BST).
