Slot expresses full…

Arne Slot has emphasized that he feels fully backed by the Liverpool management despite increased scrutiny following three straight defeats.

Just a week after suffering a 4-0 quarter-final exit from the FA Cup against Manchester City, Liverpool’s prospects of advancing in the Champions League are precarious after a 2-0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of the quarter-finals.

A recent 2-1 defeat at Brighton has left the defending champions in fifth place, battling for Champions League qualification, leading to speculation about Slot’s future—just a year after securing the Premier League title.

“I know I’ve said this many times, but I genuinely feel a lot of support—not just from the owners, Richard [Hughes, sporting director], and Michael [Edwards, chief executive], but also from the fans,” Slot stated ahead of the upcoming match against Fulham.

“It may sound a bit strange, but I felt the fans’ support even as we faced off in Paris. Despite the 4-0 loss, they began singing ‘We love you, Liverpool’ when the players went out to warm up. Even after we were clearly outplayed, they continued to cheer and clap for us in the away end. That support has been constant.”

“The club understands the challenging period we are in, and I truly believe I have their full support.”

Slot’s remarks regarding fan support came just ahead of planned protests related to the club’s decision to increase ticket prices for the next three years in accordance with inflation concerns.

Amid worries that loyal supporters could be priced out, Slot was asked about the significance of those in the stands. “It’s vital not only during tough times,” he pointed out. “Anfield’s history showcases how crucial our fans are to us. During a challenging away game against Galatasaray, their fans were loud, but at Anfield, our supporters demonstrated what true noise is, propelling us to victory.”

“This sense of support is what makes the experience special. We have always felt and appreciated that support, in both good and tough times. I hope that even with the protests, fans will continue to back us as they have this season and last.”

Additionally, Slot expressed his admiration for left-back Andy Robertson, who announced his departure from Liverpool this summer after a successful nine-year stint that included two Premier League titles, the Champions League, an FA Cup, and two League Cups, among other trophies.

“He’s had countless great seasons here, and he’s also become well-known as a fantastic person,” Slot remarked. “He has achieved everything possible at this club and served it loyally for many years. While it’s been a remarkable nine years, this season marked a change, as he didn’t play as frequently as before, leading to his decision to leave.”
