Everton and Crystal Palace have finalized a swap deal involving Dwight McNeil and Brennan Johnson, as reported by a source at ESPN.

The agreement will have McNeil joining Palace while Johnson moves to Everton, with both wingers scheduled to undergo medicals on Monday.

At 26 years old, McNeil has played 114 matches for Everton and was close to joining Palace on loan last February. His partner, Megan Sharpley, had expressed frustration over Palace’s “radio silence” following that failed transfer.

She shared on Instagram: “We live in a world where everyone recognizes the seriousness of mental health issues. So why is it considered acceptable in football to play with the mental well-being of young men simply because they’re well-paid?”

She continued, “To have promises made and to be taken on an emotional rollercoaster only to have those hopes dashed at the last moment, without any explanation, has caused more pain than I can express.”

Fortunately, the transfer is now back on track, with Johnson making the move to Everton.

Johnson, who plays for Wales, only made the switch to Palace from Tottenham in January but did not score in 26 games for the club.

Last season, Everton finished in 13th place in the Premier League, while Crystal Palace secured 15th place but qualified for the Europa League by winning the Conference League.

The two teams are set to face off during the opening weekend of the Premier League season.
