A source has confirmed to ESPN that Vinícius Júnior’s home in Madrid experienced a fire on Thursday. Fortunately, the damage was minimal, and no injuries were reported.

The Real Madrid forward was not present during the incident, as he is currently in Seoul, South Korea, preparing for Brazil‘s international friendlies against South Korea and Japan during this break.

The fire originated in the basement, specifically in the ceiling of a sauna, which was completely destroyed, according to the source.

At the time of the fire, Vinícius’ domestic staff and friends were inside the house and promptly called emergency services around 11 a.m. local time.

The incident occurred in Vinícius’ residence located in La Moraleja, one of Madrid’s most prestigious neighborhoods, situated on the outskirts of the city and in proximity to Real Madrid’s Valdebebas training facility.

An initial inquiry suggested that an electrical fault was the fire’s cause, which the fire brigade managed to control by around midday before departing the scene.

Brazil is set to play against South Korea in Seoul on Friday, followed by a match against Japan in Tokyo four days later.
