According to sources from ESPN Brasil, Arsenal has seen a £55 million ($73m) bid for Bruno Guimarães turned down by Newcastle United.
The Gunners have engaged in initial talks with the player’s representatives and have been optimistic about the chances of facilitating a transfer.
However, Newcastle remains adamant that they will not let Guimarães leave the club.
Newcastle is looking to secure Guimarães with a new contract since he has two years remaining on his current agreement.
Since arriving from Lyon in 2022, Guimarães has made over 150 appearances for Newcastle.
After winning their first Premier League title in 22 years, Arsenal is eager to strengthen their midfield among other positions. They are also considering Sandro Tonali’s situation at Newcastle, though Tottenham appears to be more actively pursuing a transfer, while Manchester City is also involved in the discussions.
After the departure of Anthony Gordon to Barcelona, Newcastle is under pressure to keep their squad intact, especially with several players attracting interest from other clubs.
