Manchester United currently has no intention of altering the terms regarding Marcus Rashford‘s potential permanent transfer to Barcelona, according to ESPN sources. The club expects the Spanish team to pay the previously agreed fee if they wish to retain the England forward.

Rashford made the move to Barça on an initial loan for the current season last summer.

The agreement allows the LaLiga team the option to secure Rashford’s permanent transfer for a pre-established fee, believed to be in the range of €30 million to €35 million ($35-40 million), at the end of the season.

There have been rumors that Barça may seek to negotiate a lower fee with United.

However, ESPN has been informed that United is firm in its stance and intends to receive the full agreed amount should Rashford continue in Spain after the summer.

Reportedly, Rashford is keen to remain at Barça.

The 28-year-old was sidelined at Old Trafford under former manager Ruben Amorim and subsequently joined Aston Villa on loan in January 2025 before making the move to Barça six months later.

ESPN sources indicate that United’s position on Rashford has not shifted despite Amorim’s exit and Michael Carrick’s appointment as head coach.

Rashford had his most successful season at United during the 2019-20 period under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, then an assistant to Carrick.

However, sources say that Carrick has considered the possibility of bringing Rashford back but has not communicated any interest in pursuing this with club management at the end of the season.

Rashford has made a strong impression at Barça, netting 10 goals in 34 appearances across all competitions.

He is contracted with United until 2028 after signing a long-term extension in 2023.
