Manchester City is advancing their efforts to acquire Antoine Semenyo, according to ESPN sources, following fruitful discussions with the Bournemouth winger.

Semenyo is expected to depart the Vitality Stadium in January, as several Premier League clubs are poised to activate his £65 million release clause.

Other clubs showing interest in the 25-year-old include Manchester United, Tottenham, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Chelsea.

However, Manchester City believes they are in a strong position to secure Semenyo and are continuing discussions with the Ghana international’s agents.

The release clause is active for the first ten days of the January transfer window. If Semenyo remains at Bournemouth next month, the clause will still be applicable in the summer but at a reduced amount.

Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola stated on Tuesday, “I understand there’s a lot of speculation surrounding Antoine. There are factors beyond our control, but at present, he is our player and we want him to keep playing for us.”

“If you ask me, I definitely don’t want to lose him. However, as we always say, during transfer windows, anything can happen.”

Semenyo is currently enjoying his best season in the Premier League, netting eight goals in 16 appearances. He joined Bournemouth from Bristol City in January 2023 and has achieved a total of 30 goals in 106 matches as he nears three years with the club.
