Inter Milan has reached an agreement to sign Curtis Jones, a midfielder from Liverpool, as confirmed by ESPN sources.
The Serie A club will pay an upfront fee of €30 million for the 25-year-old, with an additional €5 million potentially added based on performance-related clauses.
The agreement was finalized late Wednesday night, and Jones has now received clearance to undergo a medical examination.
Inter expressed interest in acquiring Jones as far back as January, but their previous offers were turned down by the Premier League club.
A departure from Anfield seemed imminent this summer, particularly with Jones having just one year remaining on his current contract and being excluded from Liverpool’s recent preseason friendlies against Monaco and Como.
Born in Liverpool, Jones joined the club at just nine years old and has since made 228 appearances since his debut under Jürgen Klopp in 2019.
While he has faced challenges securing a regular starting position, he managed to make 49 appearances last season.
During his time at Anfield, Jones has celebrated victories in two Premier League titles, two FA Cups, and two Carabao Cups.
It appears that Inter Milan is focusing on signing players from the English Premier League this transfer window, with Jones set to join teammates like John Stones and Djed Spence, who have also recently signed with the club.
