Liverpool is eyeing a loan deal for Netherlands international Lutsharel Geertruida from RB Leipzig, according to ESPN sources.
Currently, Geertruida is on a season-long loan with Premier League club Sunderland, but discussions are underway to see if that agreement can be dissolved to enable a move to Anfield.
Sources indicate that the 25-year-old defender is among the options Liverpool is considering as they look to strengthen their back line before the transfer window closes on Monday.
This season, Liverpool has faced numerous defensive injuries, with Conor Bradley and Giovanni Leoni out for the remainder of the season, while Joe Gomez and Jeremie Frimpong are also sidelined.
Geertruida, primarily a right back, is also capable of playing as a center back or in midfield. His versatility would be beneficial for Liverpool as they aim for a top-four finish this season.
Having played under Liverpool’s head coach, Arne Slot, at Feyenoord for three seasons where he served as captain, Geertruida made the move to Leipzig in 2024.
