Real Madrid is interested in acquiring Colombian striker Mayra Ramírez from Chelsea, according to multiple sources reported by ESPN.
At 26 years old, Ramírez has made a name for herself as a top forward since joining Chelsea from Levante in January 2024. Real Madrid officials believe her addition would significantly enhance their attacking options.
Madrid appreciates Ramírez’s goal-scoring prowess and physical strength, and they aim to bolster their squad this summer to maintain their status as one of Europe’s elite teams, following consecutive appearances in the Champions League quarterfinals.
Last season, Madrid was eliminated by Arsenal in the quarterfinals, and this week they will face Barcelona in the first leg of the quarterfinals.
If she joins, Ramírez would play alongside fellow Colombian international Linda Caicedo at Valdebebas, who has recently extended her contract with the club until 2030.
However, sources have acknowledged that securing Ramírez’s signature may be challenging.
Ramírez’s contract with Chelsea runs until 2028, following her transfer from Levante for a world-record fee of €450,000 in 2024.
There are concerns regarding her fitness as she has not participated in an official match since August 2, 2025, when she played in the Copa América final against Brazil.
She underwent hamstring surgery after suffering an injury during a friendly against AC Milan on August 30, and has yet to make her return.
Chelsea’s coach Sonia Bompastor mentioned in March that Ramírez experienced a setback close to her return to fitness.
“Mayra was making good progress, but she sustained another injury during her rehabilitation,” Bompastor stated. “It’s been a very challenging season for her, and it’s uncertain whether she’ll be back before the season ends.”
Sources indicate that Madrid will be closely watching Ramírez’s recovery in the final months of the season, with plans to pursue her this summer.
