Manchester City is nearing a deal to acquire Marc Guéhi from Crystal Palace, according to sources within ESPN.

Negotiations have intensified within the past day, and the England defender is anticipated to finalize a long-term contract at the Etihad Stadium shortly.

While a final agreement has not yet been established, sources from City are optimistic that the transfer will be completed.

Crystal Palace’s manager, Oliver Glasner, confirmed in a press conference that Guéhi will not be included in their squad for the upcoming Premier League match against Sunderland on Saturday.

“My latest update indicates that negotiations with Marc are nearing completion,” Glasner stated.

“I can’t specify a club just yet, as it’s not finalized, but we are in the closing stages. The outcome is that Marc will not play for us tomorrow.”

ESPN sources reveal that City is expected to pay a base fee of approximately £20 million ($26.8m) for Guéhi, who was due to become a free agent in the summer, along with additional performance-related payments.

The 25-year-old has also verbally accepted a five-and-a-half-year deal that would bind him to the Etihad until 2031.

Sources within the club indicate that Guéhi has been a long-term target, with talks accelerating following injuries to centre-backs Josko Gvardiol, Rúben Dias, and John Stones.

Guéhi’s planned transfer to Liverpool fell through on deadline day last summer, amidst significant interest from clubs across Europe who anticipated that he would become a free agent.
