According to sources, Manchester United is planning to enhance their wing-back options this summer, alongside their search for a central midfielder.

The club is currently evaluating potential midfield reinforcements, with names like Elliot Anderson, Adam Wharton, and Carlos Baleba emerging as key candidates.

Additionally, they are exploring the availability of Wolves players João Gomes and André, as well as Stuttgart’s Angelo Stiller and Atletico Madrid’s Conor Gallagher.

As reported by ESPN, United’s recruitment strategy for next summer focuses on acquiring at least one high-caliber central midfielder.

There is also recognition that head coach Ruben Amorim needs additional depth at wing-back, prompting inquiries about several potential targets.

Manchester United to Continue Investing in Their Squad

The club is optimistic about their financial situation, allowing them to keep investing in the squad.

They anticipate parting ways with several high-salary players, including Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho, over the next six months, while Amorim is aiming for a return to European competition next season.

While the January transfer window is approaching, the club is approaching it cautiously, preferring to do the majority of their recruitment in the summer.

Nonetheless, sources indicate that nothing is off the table, especially with more than a month remaining until the window opens and potential plans could change before January 1.

Last summer, United spent over £200 million on new signings, including Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko, and Senne Lammens.

Despite the significant investment, club executives acknowledge the existing limitations of the squad that Amorim is currently managing.

Injuries to Cunha and Sesko left him with limited options off the bench during the recent 1-0 loss to Everton, a match where David Moyes’ team played for over 75 minutes with ten men.

This result has positioned United 10th in the league table, just one point shy of the top six and three points from the top four, with a match against Crystal Palace looming on Sunday.
