Manchester United are reportedly nearing an agreement for a new loan deal with Trabzonspor concerning André Onana, according to sources cited by ESPN.
Onana, who played for Trabzonspor last season, is expected to return to Carrington for preseason training next month as his previous loan has expired.
During a meeting in May, United officials informed Onana’s representatives that even if he came back to the club, he would not be included in Michael Carrick’s first team for the upcoming season.
Discussions between United and Trabzonspor are ongoing, and sources indicate that Onana, whose contract at Old Trafford runs until 2028, is close to a return for another season-long loan.
ESPN sources also suggest that United are aiming to bolster their squad with an experienced goalkeeper this summer.
Altay Bayindir‘s potential move to Besiktas was halted in January, and United expect renewed interest in their No. 2 keeper after Türkiye‘s World Cup campaign concludes.
Tom Heaton, the third-choice goalkeeper who turned 40 in April, has signed a one-year contract extension, but United are still keen on adding another veteran goalkeeper for competition with their No. 1, Senne Lammens.
Carrick and the players not participating in the World Cup are scheduled to report back for preseason training on July 9.
