He had participated in two training matches under new coach José Mourinho during pre-season, but was omitted from the squad for Saturday’s friendly against Fiorentina, which ended in a 2-2 draw, indicating an impending transfer.
Mastantuono’s tough season also resulted in him being left out of the Argentina squad for the World Cup.
