Inter Miami CF is reportedly keen on acquiring Germán Berterame, a forward from Rayados de Monterrey and the Mexico national team, as confirmed by sources to ESPN on Friday. The MLS club is prepared to meet Berterame’s release clause, which Mexican media reports to be set at $15 million.

As of now, a deal between Inter Miami and Rayados for Berterame has not yet been finalized.

Berterame showcased his skills by starting for Rayados on Friday night, scoring a goal in the team’s impressive 5-1 victory over Mazatlán FC.

Prior to joining Rayados, Berterame played for Argentine clubs San Lorenzo and Patronato, making his Liga MX debut with Atletico San Luis in 2019. During his tenure with Atletico San Luis, he netted 31 goals in 93 appearances and won the Golden Boot in the 2021 Apertura tournament.

Since joining Rayados in 2022, Berterame has tallied 67 goals and 15 assists in 152 competitive matches.

His remarkable performances in Liga MX have drawn the attention of the Mexican national team, as he became eligible to play for El Tricolor after completing the naturalization process. Although he previously represented the Argentina youth national team, he could switch allegiance to Mexico due to limited appearances with the senior Argentine squad, avoiding the need for a FIFA one-time switch.

Other MLS clubs have also shown interest in Berterame. FC Cincinnati tried to activate his prior release clause, but negotiations did not yield an agreement for the transfer.
