Newcastle United has reached out to Manchester City regarding a potential transfer for Nico González, according to sources speaking to ESPN.
City is open to transfer proposals, even though González expressed a desire to remain at the Etihad Stadium during the preseason. Newcastle is aiming to bolster their midfield following the £75 million sale of Bruno Guimarães to Arsenal.
González joined Manchester City from Porto for £50 million during the winter transfer window of 2025. He has played 59 matches for the club, netting four goals, notably including the decisive goal in last season’s FA Cup semifinal win over Southampton at Wembley.
